In order to actually learn to last significantly longer, it is crucial to become intimately familiar with your own levels of arousal. You must learn to recognize how close you are to orgasm with a degree of accuracy. This isn’t as hard as you might think it is. It’s really a very simple thing once you practice it a bit.
The crucial point of arousal is what could be termed the point of no return. This is the threshold of arousal which if you cross, ejaculation will be inevitable. Interestingly, as you practice the point of no return becomes a narrower and narrower threshold until eventually you get to the point where you can stop yourself almost milliseconds before ejaculation.
In order to practice, you are going to have to masturbate with careful attention to your own arousal. The proper way to do this is to go somewhat slowly, with full concentration on the sensations which arise. The goal of this is to create a sensory memory of each point of arousal. Most people don’t realize that our memory is not just visual and audible. We all have the capability (if awakened) of remembering dozens of perceptual senses, including emotional states of being, vertigo, touch and many others.
Don’t make this a practice of how long you can last
In this case of getting to know your arousal levels, you aren’t masturbating in order to practice longer sex length. So don’t hold yourself back, just masturbate at a somewhat slow speed and pay careful attention to every feeling of arousal. This is not a good time to use porn. Your focus should be exclusively on your own sensations of pleasure, not on a visual feast for the eyes, so to speak. It may help considerably to close your eyes or even blindfold yourself for this.
You may find that you lose exterior focus on your arousal level on a conscious level at some point. This is quite normal and it’s just means you should continue to practice every 2 or 3 days in order to increase your powers of concentration. This has an interesting parallel in meditation. Masturbating like this is a meditative practice similar to concentrating on your own breath. Almost everyone finds that the first few times they meditate in this manner it is very easy to get distracted, but as you practice it becomes more and more natural.
It is helpful to think of arousal levels on a 1 to 10 scale from unerect as 0, to 10 as the point of no return right before orgasm. I don’t mean that you need to write down each arousal level (although certain types of individuals might find this to be helpful, feel free to if you’d like). It’s just an effective way for me to communicate different levels of arousal to you.
